On June 16, 2018, at approximately 5:30pm, The Litchfield Police Department was dispatched to the 200 block of Charles Bancroft Highway for a 17 yr. old male with a gunshot wound. Officers were advised that the victim was shot in the chest by a .22 caliber round and was conscious, alert and stable.
On scene officers discovered that the round was fired from a Chiappa Little Badger 22LR. It was reported to officers that a round was loaded into the firearm and when the barrel was closed, the round was accidentally discharged.
The victim was transported to the hospital for medical treatment and the investigation into the incident continues.

Litchfield Police Association
On May 09, 2018 the Litchfield Police Department concluded a several month-long investigation regarding a felonious sexual assault on a juvenile. The Police Department received assistance from the New Hampshire field office of the United States Marshal Service in locating the suspect, Jose Hernandez-Disla, 24 years of age, from Waltham, MA. Hernandez-Disla was taken into custody by the United States Marshal’s Fugitive Unit and the Waltham Police Department at his residence located on Weston Street in Waltham.
Hernandez was released on $7,500 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Nashua Superior Court on May 24, 2018 at 1 pm. He was charged with two counts of Felonious Sexual Assault a Class B Felony and Certain Uses of Computer Services Prohibited a Class B Felony.
We have received reports about someone identifying themselves as a member of the police department and soliciting donations for the Police Association on behalf the Chief of Police.
